Ernest is a 3rd generation Dogtown skater grew up in West Los Angeles, during the late -70's during the rise of Dogtown. His skate journey began after a friend at elementary school told him about the opening of Marina Del Rey skate park.. It was here that he met Z-Boy legend Dennis "Polar Bear" Agnew. He took Ernest under his wing and introduced him to George Wilson, who began giving him ZFlex boards for free. He entered every contest he could during amateur ASPO series., skating legendary parks such as Upland Pipeline, Lakewood, SkaterCross, Del Mar Skate Ranch and Whitter's SkateCity. First starting as skate park team rider and then eventually getting sponsored by Tracker Trucks.

It was one night at Marina during the filming of DEVO's iconic video" Freedom of Choice" video that would change his world. He was in awe of the all the skaters invovled, but it wAS the video cameras. He then traded a set of wheels for a small camera from a kid at his school and began shooting his first images.

After graduating from the University Oregon, Ernest, returned home and with no spec script landed a spot on the wriitng staff for Paramount television and then began writing for skecth comedy, late night television. After writing a film for Snoop Dogg , Snoop would later refer him to Mack 10 who asked him to write his first film.
That film would become Thicker Than Water, the theatre released film would star Ice Cube, Big Pun Kidada Jones, MC Eiht, B Real, Fat Joe, Mack 10, Ice Cube, MC Eiht, Big Pun, and others. Ernest's clients have included Kool Keith, Korn, Papa Roach, Pink Motel Hotel, Juice Mgazine, ZFlex Skateboards, Priority Records, MTV, Def Jam, VH-1, Ruff Ryder Records
Ernest as also worked as a mentor with Save A Heart Save A Mind, founded in 2010 by Susan Williams, and with noteworthy support from Professional Skateboarder Stevie Williams, the group helps struggling inner city youth. Ernest also develops skateboard behavioral programs for students with autisim.
